The Company started the ISP business in the year 2001 after the opening up of the telecom sector by the government. Karuturi currently has a B category license for the state of Karnataka. The initial business of the Company was to be a bulk bandwidth provider to other ISP.s and the Company had setup a Satellite Gateway to get bandwidth into the country as there was a shortage of Fibre bandwidth. Over the years, the Company as evolved and now provides Internet Services to some of the biggest IT MNC.s like Network Appliances, Interwoven, Beceem Communications, Magma Designs and also caters to corporate clients. This year, given the thrust for broadband growth provided by TRAI, the Company has entered the consumer broadband business by tying up with cable operators to provide last mile across 5 cities/towns of Karnataka. The business has grown 30-50% YOY consistently.
ISP products and services
- High speed Cost effective Broadband connectivity mainly for corporates and also offer consumer broadband connections.
- Products include: Dedicated Leased Lines (24-hour dedicated leased line access to the Internet), ISDN Lines, VPN and VOIP.
- Other services: Hosting Services, E-Infrastructure and E-business Consultancy
- Supply and install mail servers, proxy servers, and firewalls.

Outlook
Going forward, the company plans to grow laterally by acquiring existing B and C category ISP.s in other states of South India and it is in talks with a couple of them. The company is also looking at developing a plug and play Broad band service product which will lead to a significant increase in revenue flows and specifically looking at WIMAX and BPL (Broadband over Power Lines).
Leveraging the ISP business, we are also studying the Data Center business and understanding the opportunities available and may look at getting into the same.
